One of the best Pizza in Como: Napule è

One of the best Pizza in Como: Napule è

IN: Restaurants Lake Como (Italy) March 16, 2013 10:50 am 0 comments

Pizza Mario MerolaComo is a small city in the north of Italy, famous for its wonderful lake. I’m often here as its my second home.

Como is packed with good restaurants and Pizzerias, but I have a list of my favourites which I frequent regularly when I’m back in Italy. One of them is Napule è, a famous Restaurant and Pizzeria with traditional Neapolitan cuisine.

They serve lots of different delicious dishes, but what I love most is their Pizzas, second to none in Como.

My Menu

I had the famous “Zeppole di Mare” as a starter and a Pizza Mario Merola. Unfortunately I had no more space for dessert.

Zeppole di Mare

Zeppole di MareA Zeppola is an Italian pastry consisting of a deep-fried dough ball of varying size. The consistency ranges from light and puffy, to bread like.

Zeppole are typical of Italian cuisine, especially that of Rome and Naples. They could be topped with sugar and filled with cream and be served as a dessert, or they could be savoury and filled with anchovy (or other ingredients) and served as a starter.

I had the savoury one, with anchovy. One portion is very big, formed of several balls. It’s ideal to share with at least a person. The taste is delectable. You can’t even tell they are fried….

Pizza Mario Merola

Pizza Mario MerolaA traditional Neapolitan pizza: high crust, crispy, tender, fragrant and rich topping.

The Pizza Mario Merola (named in honour of the famous Neapolitan singer and actor) is topped with tomato, mozzarella fior di latte, sausages and fried eggplants. Divine! Every ingredient has been put together to form an incredible taste. Every morsel generates instant joy, that persists until the next one. A must try…

Pizzas are very big, so you might end your meal a bit full, especially if you accompany everything with a nice italian beer (nice but not as nice as the ones you can have in a british pub).

Service was superb. Every waiter has a discreet headphone transceiver to communicate with each other and perhaps the kitchen. That could explain the fast service despite the restaurant is big and was packed with customers all over the 3 floors.

A bit expensive. Starter + Pizza + 1 Pint of beer + 1 espresso = 15 euro
