Best Cream Tea in Cornwall: Rosemergy Farm House

Best Cream Tea in Cornwall: Rosemergy Farm House

IN: Cornwall Food & Drink (UK) April 13, 2013 8:02 pm 0 comments

Rosemergy FarmHouseClotted cream, warm scones, strawberry jam and good tea. A magic combination, or simply, Cream Tea!

My travel guide says that Devon and Cornwall are the best places to have Cream Teas in the UK, so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to try the delicious combination in my 4 days in Cornwall.

I can’t consider myself an expert of Cream Teas, but I was lucky enough to try them in some of London’s best tea rooms. I suspected that they were nowhere near the ones you could have in Cornwall, and I was right.

The real magic behind the cream tea is not the tea, but the clotted cream. Not everybody is capable of making a perfect clotted cream. It’s a tough recipe which needs mastery.

Traveling in the north Cornish coast between St. Ives and St. Just I stumbled across Rosemergy Farmhouse. At first, I was intrigued especially for the location: a little cottage deep in the green of the Cornish grasslands. Afterwards I discovered that Rosemergy was more than a simple farm. It’s a family run Farmhouse and tea room that serves incredible Cream Teas in a stunning spot! Apparently, Rosemergy Farmhouse is well-known all over Cornwall for their home-made aga baked cakes and delicious scones, served warm (they bake them throughout the day). Their Clotted cream is incredible! It’s Thick, rich, indulgent, with the consistency of soft butter and with a delicious milky taste.

I had Cream Teas in other places in Cornwall, but this was by far the best! If you are around, you should stop by and enjoy…
