Noodle Oodle is a special Chinese restaurant in Oxford Street that was first established in 2006. I know this restaurant since 2007, when I used to have their cheap but delicious lunches after Uni. I’ve always been impressed by their food, different from all other chinese restaurants in the city.
I’ve read somewhere that Noodle Oodle was the first Chinese restaurant in London to serve freshly made hand-pulled noodles. I don’t know if it’s true or just an urban legend
(part of a good marketing strategy), but I honestly think that they do the best fresh noodles in the City.
I could spend hours watching the chef prepare the noodles, repeatedly dividing and stretching the dough to full arm’s length, before dropping into a bubbling stockpot. You can see the entire procedure from your table, thanks to the open kitchen.
Noodle Oodle doesn’t serve only legendary noodles, they also do Shanghainese dim sum and stir-fried dishes, which are delicious.
I visited the restaurant last night for dinner after almost a year and I enjoyed it as much as the first time I discovered it back in 2007.
I was so happy to see my favourite noodle dish still in the menu: La-mian (hand pulled) fresh noodles in a sliced beef soup with chilli oil. I couldn’t choose anything else.
I also had a portion of chicken and vegetable dumplings.
The noodles were freshly made and perfectly cooked as usual! The soup was tasty, rich and slightly spicy. Just as good as I remembered it.
The chicken and vegetable dumplings were abundant. I shared them with my wife and they were still enough for both, especially if you have them as a starter. They were very tasty and with a rich stuffing.
Another thing I love about Noodle Oodle is their coconut milk: a glass of water and ice with a big fresh coconut chunk. Delicious and very refreshing. I couldn’t find anything similar elsewhere.
Efficient and very fast. Our food was served in less than 10 minutes.
I paid £10.50 per person for a Noodle Soup, chicken and vegetable dumplings and a coconut milk. Very cheap, excellent value for money.
