Eating good food at Gatwick Airport

Bridge Restaurant TableTime to catch a plane, again!

This morning I was traveling to Italy. Unfortunately not for a holiday, but for business. As I had a couple of hours before my gate opened I decided to have lunch at a restaurant inside Gatwick Airport in the terminal building (after security checks). It’s called Bridge Bar, Lounge & Dining.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing. Once inside you forget about the airport and all its stress, unless you choose a table near the window looking at the landing runway (a perfect spot for children).

The menu is quite rich. They serve several things: hamburgers, soups, pasta’s, steaks, sandwiches and wraps, salads and more.

They also do fantastic cocktails (I didn’t try them but I’ve seen some from other tables and looked delicious).

I had a Cheese and Bacon Burger and my wife had a Bridge Bar Broth.

My burger was perfect: a nice succulent beef burger topped with bacon, mature cheddar, crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion mayonnaise and relish served on a glazed bun and accompanied with crispy and tasty chips. Very yummy!

My wife’s dish has been appreciated: a bowl of chunky mixed vegetables and barley broth with cheesy sourdough croutons served with shredded roast chicken. She loved it.

Service was quick, which is perfect if you are in a hurry… planes don’t wait.

Prices are ok, maybe a bit too expensive but nothing excessive. The broth was £5.95. My hamburger, £10.50. We had also a couple of beers, for a total of £21.
